A Baby Shower Family Tree

One of my good friends is having a baby soon and very soon; and I am tickled pink, er, I mean blue; it's a boy!  Leading up to her shower there was a flurry of homemade baby gift making going on, because, you know, homemade baby gifts are simply the best.  With all that, one of the last things on my to-do list was a "Family Tree" guest book.  A kernel of inspiration prompted me to create my own version of "The Wedding Tree" for all the shower guests to "sign;" and I knew there would be A LOT of guests at the baby shower.
My last minute work was  a hit!  I got quite a few comments and have even had a couple of commissions for similar trees!  Sheesh, who would have thought?  I am excited with how well the tree turned out.  It will look so sweet framed in Baby T's nursery with the forest inspired decor.  Perfect for an autumn baby, no?  I think this fingerprint tree will be treasured reminder when Baby T is older of all the people waiting with loving hands to welcome him into this great, big, world.

Barbie's Bathing Suit

I have been eyeballing this beauty for a while; the swimsuit, of course (although the lady is fantastic as well)!  I don't think I could quite pull it off, but it is perfectly retro and hip none-the-less.

I just wanted to share...  I hope you are all out there enjoying your summer!

Birthday Reflections

We most definitely have been basking in a post birthday twilight around here.  The party was success and most of all, the party girl thoroughly enjoyed herself, there were no meltdowns, let-downs or accidents, even good byes ran smoothly; the guests were sufficiently wished an energetic, "Good bye!  See you next time!"  From the freshly anointed three-year-old.  The party was casual, light-hearted and of course, energetic and cake filled, oh, and there were some rainbows in there too...

The party was on a Sunday, so we hosted a light brunch and opened gifts outside because the weather was sunny and warm, hurrah!  And thank goodness, because our tiny house does not hold all our friends, so we rely heavily on our yard when entertaining.   Below are images of an end of era, my baby is hardly "baby" anymore, so it was quite bittersweet for mama, as I'm sure each birthday will continue to be more so.   Three appears to be a lively and exciting time, new adventures abound and we look forward exploring each one together.

With each passing year the love in my heart grows more than I ever thought imaginable; and I am continually awed by the experience of motherhood.

Cheers!  Here's to another great year of love and laughs... and lots of imagination!
